Bourbon Tastings

Join us before Friday evening performances of Misery  for a special bourbon tasting accompanied by a three-course meal. Catered by The Littlefield, dinner will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $35 per person and does not include a ticket to the show. Reservations are required by the Monday before the tasting.

Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey  |  Fairytale eggplant with gnudi and heirloom tomatoes in brodo.

Second Course:
Sycamore American Whiskey  |  Braised pork shoulder with pickled kohlrabi and Mountain Rose potatoes.

OYO Rye Whiskey Dark Pumpernickel  |  Bourbon apple bar drizzled with Earl Grey caramel.

PAGE-TO-STAGE BOOK CLUB

The Playhouse begins its Page-to-Stage Book Club series this season with a deep dive into Stephen King’s suspense-filled novel, Misery. Playhouse book club events take place at 7 p.m. at The Mercantile Library, located at 414 Walnut St., #1100. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required by calling the Box Office at 513-421-3888.

Participants are invited to attend two special discussion events:

Aug. 27 at 7 p.m.
At the first discussion, we’ll talk about the book and the film: the plot and characters, the overarching themes, the differences between the two, how you might imagine it translates to a theatrical setting and even the challenges you see in adapting the story. The discussion will be facilitated by Playhouse Director of Education and Community Engagement Daunielle Rasmussen and University of Cincinnati film instructor and screenwriter Joe Horine.

Joe Horine teaches film, history and communications at the University of Cincinnati. He has also taught literature, drama and film at Miami University. As a screenwriter, Joe has worked with multiple directors including Brian De Palma. Joe currently serves as Editor-In-Chief of the Cincinnati Film Society newsletter and is working on the programming and marketing for the new Garfield movie theater downtown.

Our second discussion will take place after you’ve seen the play to discuss what excited and surprised you, and to learn from a member of the production team how they approached the show.
