Join us in an open conversation with the artists of the Playhouse’s production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Director Bill Fennelly and actors Nick Cearley (Linus) and Lauren Molina (Lucy) share how they devised a fresh, new take on the musical landscape of this Broadway classic and how they developed it from conception to the Marx stage. The artists will discuss how they balanced staying true to the beloved show while giving themselves the freedom to invent and create a new experience for today’s audiences. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

From the Great White Way to Hollywood to NASA, Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang have permeated pop culture worldwide. Creator Charles Schulz had the un-paralleled ability to speak to the insecurities of both children and adults in as few as four frames or as brief as a thirty-minute television special. Learn about how the comic strip “about nothing” managed to change the world. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

ABOUT THE PANELISTS
Jeff Suess
Jeff is the author of Lost Cincinnati, Hidden History of Cincinnati, and Cincinnati Then and Now, and is the librarian of The Cincinnati Enquirer, where he keeps the newspaper archive and writes about Cincinnati history. He also writes fiction, with stories published by Pocket Books, Post Mortem Press, and DC Comics, and he leads discussions on graphic novels at The Mercantile Library. Jeff grew up in Modesto, California, and lives in White Oak with his wife, Kristin, and their daughter, Dashiell.
Kevin Necessary
Kevin is the editorial cartoonist and comics journalist for WCPO. A Cincinnati native, Kevin has worked as a news media professional, cartoonist and illustrator for nearly 20 years. His cartoons are syndicated by GoComics, and is the illustrator of the children's book My Best Friend Fiona.
Anne Drozd
Anne is the Museum Coordinator for the The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum at The Ohio State University during the day, cartoonist by night.
