Health & Safety Come First!

As we prepare to welcome audience back to the Playhouse in October, the safety and well-being of our patrons, artists and staff is our top priority. As health and safety guidelines are constantly evolving, we continue to closely monitor the situation and modify our COVID-19 health and safety plan appropriately. The protocols outlined below are subject to change based on new mandates and/or recommendations from the CDC, the State of Ohio, the Hamilton County Department and/or the City of Cincinnati. We will send you updated guidelines in an email closer to your performance, and patrons who don't feel safe attending or aren't comfortable with the protocols below will have the option to receive a refund if you notify us prior to the performance.

Thank you in advance for your help to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable theatre experience. The guidelines listed below were updated on December 1, 2021.

   

Vaccination Status

All patrons, including children under 12, must present either proof of vaccination or negative COVID PCR or ABBOTT ID NOW test to attend a performance. Providing proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test helps ensure everyone's comfort gathering for an indoor, live performance. 

• Patrons will be considered to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after the final dose of vaccine (the second dose for a two-dose regimen mRNA vaccine such as Moderna or Pfizer, or the single dose for single-dose regimen such as Johnson & Johnson). Patrons will be asked to show documentation of vaccination status upon entry to the lobby. Matching photo ID is required for patrons over 18. No information will be kept on file. 


• Vaccination card (which includes names of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided and date last dose administered) OR

• a photo of a vaccination card as a separate document OR

• a photo of the attendee's vaccine card stored on a photo or electronic device OR

• documentation of vaccination from a healthcare provider electronic health record or state Immunization Information System record.

• Matching photo ID required at the door for guests 18 and older. 

Self-reported vaccination records that are not verified by a health care provider cannot be accepted.

• Unvaccinated patrons, including children under 12, will be required to show proof of a negative COVID PCR or ABBOTT ID NOW test performed no more than five days prior. Matching photo ID required at the door for guests 18 and older. (Please note the required timing on the test has been expanded as of November 24, 2021 for the holiday season in response to feedback that test results are sometimes taking up to four or five days.)

 

• Printed or digital document (from the test provider or laboratory) OR

• an email or text message displayed on a phone or electronic device from the test provider or laboratory. 

• The information provided should include name of person tested, type of test performed and a negative result of a COVID PCR or ABBOTT ID NOW test performed no more than five days prior to entry. 

• Matching photo ID required at the door for guests 18 and older. 

If you do not have any of the above documentation, you will not be able to attend the performance. You will be able to reschedule or receive a refund at the Box Office.

Rapid and Antigen tests cannot be accepted. Self-reported negative test results that are not from a test provider, a laboratory or a health care provider cannot be accepted.

• If you are holding tickets to a performance, you will receive an email prior to your performance reminding you of these requirements and providing other details to ensure a smooth and safe visit. 

• If you are already holding tickets and aren't comfortable with this safety protocol, contact the Box Office at 513-421-3888 for a refund. 

   

Face Coverings

Regardless of vaccine status, face masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn at all times, in all areas of the Playhouse building — including while seated during the performance. Face masks may only be removed for the purpose of actively eating or drinking. 

• Patrons arriving without appropriate face coverings will be provided a disposable face mask. 

• Actors will not wear masks while performing on stage (but will be wearing them at all other times while in the building).

   

Tickets and Seating

• All performances in the Marx Theatre and Rosenthal Shelterhouse are being sold at full capacity.

• Tickets will be digital or print-at-home with contactless ticket scanning at the theatre. Tickets will be sent prior to your performance via email. 

• More information about pre-performance procedures, including the opening time of the lobby, will be posted here closer to the start of the performances.

   

General Guidelines

• When tickets are purchased, patrons will be required to confirm that they have reviewed and will follow the Playhouse's health and safety measures and will not attend if feeling ill, showing any symptoms or have had any know contacts related to COVID-19.

• If you are feeling ill or showing any symptoms, please stay home. Please call the Box Office at 513-421-3888 to receive a refund or donate your tickets.

   

Cleaning Protocols

• All public spaces will be cleaned nightly and between matinee and evening performances. Cleaning procedures will utilize CDC-approved disinfecting solutions to thoroughly clean door handles, stair railings, seating arm rests, counters, tables, chairs, the elevator and other shared surfaces after every performance.

• We are making touchless hand-sanitizer and disinfecting-wipe stations available throughout the building.

   

Air Flow

• The Playhouse has a continuous air-flow system. We have increased the outside air to the maximum percentage that the system can handle.

• We have upgraded the air filters to MERV13 efficiency filters for all the air-handling units throughout the building. Evaporator coils have been deep cleaned and disinfected.

Concessions

• Beverages and limited pre-packaged food will be available for purchase. Masks may only be removed when actively eating or drinking. Eating will only be allowed in designated areas of the lobby. Food and drink will not be allowed inside the theatres.
