Off the Hill Touring Plays

2025-26 Season

Each year, the Playhouse is proud to partner with many of the region's community arts centers and other community venues to bring two plays "off the hill" to families throughout the Greater Cincinnati area.

Zombie Thoughts

  • By Jennifer A Kokai and Oliver Grey Kokai-Means
  • Directed by Katie Gifford-Baskerville

Sept. 16 - Nov. 9

AN OFF THE HILL TOURING PLAY

Meet Sam and Pig, your two avatars in this video game-inspired show about overcoming anxiety. Sam is intelligent, anxious and armed with a book. Pig is goofy, distracted and armed with a rubber chicken. Join Sam and Pig on a journey through the video game “Zombie Thoughts” as the audience controls the game in this interactive adventure! As they complete the levels, Pig and the players in the audience help Sam overcome anxiety by defeating the monsters and trials the game throws in their way. Zombie Thoughts is a game-changer for talking to kids about feelings in a way they’ll find fun and wholly entertaining!

Zombie Thoughts has been reviewed and endorsed by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Behavioral Analyst for its depiction of and treatment suggestions for Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

Feb.24 - May 3

AN OFF THE HILL TOURING PLAY

A fresh adaptation of the one of the world’s best-known fables! Does slow and steady really win the race? Hare believes that speed is the way to win, while Tortoise believes that consistency is the key. Even though they have been pitted against each other for centuries, Tortoise and Hare will find that the only way to win the race is to work together, using their individual character strengths and teamwork to overcome the obstacles and challenges in their way. This new play with music puts a contemporary spin on a heartwarming and gripping tale for audiences of all ages.
