A CONVERSATION WITH LARISSA FASTHORSE

Sunday, March 24 | 5:30 p.m. at the Playhouse

Join us for a conversation with The Thanksgiving Play playwright Larissa FastHorse, facilitated by the show’s director, Lisa Portes. Learn about how they are bringing this fresh, new satire to life on the Shelterhouse stage, and take a deeper dive into the story’s perspective. Portes will also engage in discussion with FastHorse about her career as an award-winning theatre artist and her experiences navigating the industry as a Native American playwright. Portes and FastHorse will be joined in the discussion by representatives from our local Native American community. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Join us and our partners at the Greater Cincinnati Native American Coalition for a post-show discussion as we respond to the play and discuss issues around and within our own Native American community in Cincinnati. These conversations will be held directly after the performance.

About the GCNAC
The Greater Cincinnati Native American Coalition is a loosely based coalition of Native American organizations and individuals, churches, groups and others, who support Native American and Indigenous treaty and human rights, as well as racial issues on a local and national level.

WOMEN WRITING FOR (A) CHANGE WRITING CIRCLES

Monday, April 15 | 7 p.m. at the Playhouse

The Playhouse is thrilled to be teaming up with Women Writing for (a) Change to help you connect your own story and writing style to the themes of The Thanksgiving Play, written by Larissa FastHorse. Join us for a guided writing experience to help you merge ideas of representation and cultural identity with your personal response to FastHorse’s new satire. Whether you have never put pen to paper or you’re an experienced storyteller, come cultivate your voice and connect with a new community creatively. The Women Writing for (a) Change Writing Circles event is open to all genders.
