you to La Casa Azul, Frida’s home, where Vanessa recounts the artist’s bold life. With music and movement, she shares insights about Frida’s physical limitations, complex love life, addictions and, of course, the beauty in her art.
This searing new play cracks open a powerful portal between Vanessa and Frida bringing breathtaking physicality and raw honesty to this stunningly creative production.

Join us for a playwriting and performance workshop inspired by Frida…A Self Portrait, during which you will have the opportunity to write and create your own short solo performance piece. The first hour will be writing exercises to create a monologue. Then, in the second hour, you will bring your monologue to life through movement and physical exploration. Participants will use prints of Frida Kahlo’s artwork to inspire their personal piece but are also welcome to provide their own piece of inspirational art – preferably a portrait
This event is intended to be accessible for adults of all experience levels in movement and writing.
We are offering one Audio-Described Performance at all our off-site locations for our fall performances. Trained volunteers describe the visual elements of the production via a closed-circuit receiver that is approximately the size of a deck of cards and fits in a jacket pocket or on the lap. A small earpiece fits into one ear, allowing patrons to hear dialogue, music and other sound effects. The description is timed to avoid interfering with dialogue.
We are offering one Signed Performance at all our off-site locations for our fall performances. The interpreter stands toward the bottom of aisle 5.
